Abstract

Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá reflects on his publications Puertorriqueños and Retratos de machina, as a rewrite and expansion of anecdotes both from his chronicles and from the work of his great-uncle, the writer and chronicler Ramón Juliá Marín. The author reveals that it is like completing the characterization of the characters and at the same time animating their motivations, while the narrator remains “almost like an invisible shadow.”
